Psychosocial and Behavioral Aspects of Women’s Sexual Pleasure: A Scoping Review

Objectives To clarify the psychosocial and behavioral factors related to women’s sexual pleasure.Methods A search was conducted on EBSCO Web of Science databases using key terms “female pleasure” “women following PRISMA guidelines.Results 76 articles were identified, referring practices, individual factors, interpersonal societal ways enhancing pleasure.Conclusions Age, experience, arousability, body-esteem, autonomy, assertiveness seem benefit pleasure, while compliance a gender power imbalance compromise it. Additional research regarding non-western non-heterosexual women is still required.
